the mystery 404 or what is a 404?
The error 404 belongs to the HTTP status codes.
Whenever you visit a website, your browser gets data from the webserver of "the other site"
(the place where all the files are).
Before the site can be displayed in your browser, the webserver sends the http header which contains the status code.
If all is ok, then the server sends the status 200 for "ok" and loads the site you are looking for.
If there is any error, for example that the page is not discoverable any longer, because you've entered an incorrect link
or perhaps because a site has been updated recently and some links were broken, the server sends a 404 "not found" error.
what does 404 mean?
the values 40X indicates those errors, whose occured on the client's side.
4 for "client error" and 0 for "general syntax error"
The last number is for the special error that occured in the "group 40X".
