There are two possibilities to "show" a 404 error.
The first is the really boring standard message the browser shows by default and the second is a customized 404 error message.
I try to find out how this "custom 404 error"-thingy works on different webservers.
If you know how this works on another webserver or if you like to add something to the existing instructions,
please don't hesitate to write me an e-mail.
The Apache Webserver or webservers that are build up on Apache,
are the most used ones.
But there are also other webservers that aren't seldom used either.
For example: Microsoft, Zeus & iplanet.
So if you don't know what's the webserver your site is running on, or if you
are unsure, please use this form to check it out.

Last, but not least:
If you have any problems or any questions because of creating own 404 sites, please write me an email or
use the form at the bottom of the page.
